Trampling the Mustangs

This past Saturday the Badgers hosted an all day competion against the Bryce Valley Mustangs.  While most of the day the Badgers took a beating from the Mustangs losing both freshman and jv games they held their heads high as they entered the varsity game.  It was a grudge match and every point was a dog fight.  Both teams where very physical all four quarters.  

In the first quarter it looked like Wayne was destinied to fall short as the freshman and jv had to the Mustangs.  With a score of 20 to 9 things did not look good. In the second quarter Wayne started to fall in step out scoring the opposition by 5 points.  They were still down, but they could see the hope of winning with a score of 31 to 25.  After the half the Badgers came out with a vengence and a deep desire to win.  They again out scored the Mustangs by 5 points bringing the score to 44 to 43 at the end of third quarter.  Tensions rose as the fans began to demand their team win.  Wayne once again prevailed in out scoring the Mustangs by 6 points bringing the final score to 59 to 64.  Emotions are intense as the Badgers move past yet another competive team.  Wayne scoring front was lead by Garrett Chappell, who had 16 points - 4 three pointers - 6 assists - 1 steal, Wyatt VanOrden, who had 15 points - 3 three pointers - 3 assists - 3 steals, Colby Taylor, who had 12 points - 6 assists - 1 steal, and Paden Peterson, who had 12 points - 2 assists - 3 steals.  Between the big steal game and high point scorers Wayne is on a three game win streak.  Come out and support the Badgers as the take on the Milford Tigers on the 19th in Milford.  Milford is undefeated this year.  This will be a true test for the Badgers.  The next home game will be on the 20th against Panguitch.  Go get them Badgers bring home the gold.  The Badgers record is now 5-3.
