Senior Night Sadness

Many heavy hearts and tears were shed on the ball court as this years seniors took center stage.  It is sad to see these young men go, but we are excited to see where their dreams take them.  We honor the two seniors this year after exempliary work on and off the court.

Paden Peterson, son of Brain and Candy Peterson, is a handy post always managing a couple of steals a game.  Colby Taylor, son of Kurt and Tanya Taylor, is constantly a high scorer in most of Wayne’s games.  These two have had a exciting basketball career at Wayne High School.

In the senior night showcase Wayne hosted the Monticello Buckaroos.  Earlier in the season Wayne fell to the Buckaroos by a small margin.  Wayne is hoping to power through and take the win.  In the first quarter Wayne laged behind slightly putting up a score of 18-20 with Monticello leading.  In the second quarter Wayne fell far behind and did not even break 10 points bringing the score to 26-37.  Going into the half Wayne actually still had a fighting chance at bringing the game home.  Coming off the half Wayne had found new rigor and out scored the Buckaroos bringing the score to 40-49.  With Wayne hot on their heels the Buckaroos pulled it together and came off with a win of 67-55.  This is a sad loss on the season as Wayne falls to the Buckaroos yet again.  Leading scores of the game were Garret Chappell with 17 points and Paden Peterson with 17 points.  As Wayne binds its seniors farewell the light of a state title shining in their eyes.  We wish them well in the pursuit.  Their record now is 13-6.
