Wayne Middle School – Closed Campus

Wayne Middle School is a closed campus. That means that students are not allowed to leave unless a parent signs them out. We cannot have students walking to cafes or other student’s homes at lunch time.

There are a couple of exceptions to this rule:

1 - ANY student may WALK to THEIR home for lunch if their home’s proximity to the school allows them to walk home and back to school during the allotted lunch period (11:20 am- 11:50 am).

1. If a student is going to walk to THEIR home for lunch during the school year at any point, then they must first sign a Home Release Contract (in the past we have simply required a written note), that will be kept on file at the school.
2. In-person or verbal confirmation of the request from a parent/guardian must be received the first day a student is going to walk to THEIR home for lunch (parent/guardian is to come to the school office or call the school office).
3. ALL students sign out and in at the office before leaving and upon returning.
