On Wednesday, September 18th, Mrs. Shields’ Third Grade class at Loa Elementary got a welcome visit from Megan Mustoe of the Rotary Club.
And, each student received a valuable gift! Webster’s Dictionary & Thesaurus.
Inside the front cover of each reference book was a four-way test of the things Rotarians say and do. First, is it the truth? Second, is it fair to all concerned? Third, will it build good will and better friendships? Fourth, will it be beneficial to all concerned? Great things for students to think about!
Students also learned the difference between the dictionary on their computer and the printed version, how the thesaurus relates to synonyms they’ve studied in class, and the importance of knowing word definitions.
Mrs. Shields and her students would like to thank the Rotary Club, and Megan Mustoe, for their generosity, and for providing them with such a valuable learning tool.
