On Thursday, October 24th, Wayne County Sheriff Dan Jensen and Deputy Sheriff Micah Gulley visited Loa Elementary with Wayne County’s K-9 Officer, Doc.
The visit was part of Red Ribbon Week--an alcohol, tobacco, and domestic violence prevention awareness campaign.
The students learned how Doc & Deputy Gulley train, just how Doc is used to fight crime in Wayne County, and the way Doc behaves when he’s not on duty.
The kindergarten classes even got a demonstration of how Doc can use his superlative powers of smell to detect hidden drugs.
Sheriff Jensen also distributed an informative magazine to all the students which outlined the many ways the Sheriff’s Office, and a K-9 officer, keep the community safe.
Doc was a big hit with all the classes, and the students expressed excitement over the fact that Wayne County now has a K-9 officer dedicated to protecting the community and keeping it safe.
