WMS 7th Grader Named Utah GEAR UP Student Of The Month

Utah's GEAR UP program has named Wayne Middle School 7th Grader Emma Hickman its January Student Of The Month.

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a federally funded college access & readiness program administered by Utah State University.

Emma was nominated because of her outstanding motivation, and willingness to assist as a GEAR UP "student tutor" to her peers at Wayne Middle School.

"Emma's desire to help others with schoolwork challenges and find success in their efforts has been exemplary," said Wayne Middle School GEAR UP Advisor Tracie Fallis.
