Behavior Technician
Wayne School District is accepting applications for a Behavior Technician at Wayne High School. We are looking for a candidate who will work as a team player with Special Education/General Education teachers, Social Emotional Learning Coordinators, Advance Behavior Analysts and other appropriate personnel. Conduct and provide behavior interventions, strategies, and support to establish an educational climate that facilitates student success and academic achievement.
Job Duties:
- Registered Behavior Technician will be responsible in the collaboration for designing, implementing, modeling and training staff on Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior intervention plans.
- They will be responsible for collecting data and collaborating with school staff and parents regarding behavior plans
- Conduct functional behavior assessments
- Work closely with behavior specialists, school social workers, teachers and student support teams to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions for students struggling with behavior in the classroom;
- Model appropriate positive behavior intervention strategies
- Assist in the coaching and overall implementation of various behavior plans
- Collect and upload data for review by the student support teams
- Collaborate with other staff for the placement of student in special education settings;
- Implement the student’s IEP, including implementing behavior management plans;
- Maintain confidentiality of student or District information by following district policies regarding confidential information;
- Builds rapport/relationships with students, teachers, service providers and parents to help students achieve success;
- Attends meetings and trainings;
- Flexibility in work environments and the ability to respond to changes and needs quickly;
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Heavy work, exerting up to 100 lbs of force
- Standing or Sitting for long periods of time
- Regular attendance, timeliness, and mental / emotional stability
- Ability to de-escalate students and use of physical restraints as needed
- Crouching, lifting, kneeling, grasping, hearing, mental/visual acuity, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking clearly, standing, stooping, walking and running.
Minimum Job Requirements: Associate’s Degree and Registered Behavior Technician Certification preferred. Will consider applicants with 2 years of experience. Must be willing to complete and pass Registered Behavior Technician course within 6 months of hire, in addition to an Associate’s Degree within 4 years. Pay starting at $16.41 per hour
