LES Community Council Minutes

In attendance:

Wendy Potter, Tacey Wood, Amber Draper, Beth Peisner, Kari Denison

Meeting called to order at 2:40. Beth made a motion to approve last months minutes. Kari seconded it.

The budget was reviewed. Wendy mentioned that if we can’t hire more staff we will have some extra funds to spend. There are currently 2 aide positions open at LES

Wendy mentioned we are bringing in an astronomy dome from CUES for the  3^rd quarter activity. She also mentioned that Plan B theater company was coming to do a play writing workshop with the students on January 13^th. 

 A recap of Art Night was discussed. It was very successful. The school made close to $4,000 for field trips and other needs. 

Beth mentioned she had been talking with Lindsay Shelar about coming and doing a music workshop with the students. The council agreed to have her come. Wendy will call her and schedule dates. The community council agreed to use Trustland funds to purchase the supplies needed for the workshop.

Wendy asked for STEM activity ideas. Kari suggested doing an egg drop contest with the older grades. She will look into rules and supplies and bring more info back to the next meeting. Wendy said she would look into ideas for the younger grades that would be similar. 

Field trips were discussed. Beth and Kari were going to research opportunities with some of the museums in the state to see what was available. 

Beth called for the meeting to be adjourned at 3:09. Kari seconded it.
