- Construction-Lots of progress over the last week. There is now heat in the Gym and Auditorium so that we can start using that area. Science room has had progress there and now has sinks and gas. Metal Shop and classroom has seen progress. The mig gas line in the welding shop has been installed and working on the tig line. They are still working on getting heat to that classroom and metals shop. The school isn’t as cold, but gets very warm in the afternoon. This will improve when the AC is installed and the Air Handler can work properly. Hoping to have Kitchen completed soon. There has been a lot of progress there. Tentative date to work out of the kitchen Dec 2nd. Kitchen needs fire inspection and health/safety inspection. AAA coming tomorrow to work on the elevator. 2 more steps and then the inspector can come. Construction of the new gym is right on track and deadlines are being met there. They have poured the concrete footings. Masons coming tomorrow to assess and start some of the masonry. They are right on track with the phase of the new gym.
- Safety Assessments for schools- Superintendent and Jim completed the Walk Through with 3 members of the sheriff’s office and state security office. Safety Assessments have now been completed.
- The Utah State Office of Education Early Literacy team has recognized schools with a high percentage of students reading on grade level at the end of 3rd grade. The USOE has set a goal for 70% of 3rd graders to read on grade level at the end of 2027. According to the end of year reporting, 78% of Loa Elementary third graders were reading on grade level at the end of the 23-24 school year with a 25% improvement from the beginning of year to end of year. Forty schools were recognized state-wide. Loa Elementary was in the top ten of those recognized! Great job LES.

Construction payment-Board discussed the completion of the high school and challenges we have been facing with getting work completed. Different options were discussed with possible options of withhold payment to Hogan until phase 1 is completed. This was a topic that Pablo brought up at the last construction meeting that the Superintendent and Business Administrator attended. After much discussion, a decision was made to have the Superintendent and BA look at the invoice from Hogan and determine if that work has been completed. If it has, that subcategory will be paid. If it has not been completed, we will submit a payment without that category in the payment. No action taken.
