Electric Christmas Light Fix

Lights1

STEM activity on creating a circuit to fix the Christmas lights that were cut apart was engaging for Hanksville Elementary Students. k-5th grade participated in the activity, working in small groups to build an electric circuit that lit up the bulbs. Power source, conductors, insulators and load (the light) were vocabulary words that introduced the students to electric circuits. Trying, reflecting, changing, working together and combining ideas to make it work!

Mrs. Bradbury’s class took a step beyond their recent unit on energy and built upon their new knowledge. Mrs. Wilkins class this activity was a jumping off point into a unit on electricity from the 5th grade curriculum.

The most amazing circuit was built by two girls 5th and 2nd graders.
