Second Round Upset

Coming off the high of the win against Bryce Valley the girls squared up against the Rich Rebels in an all out battle to stay in contention for the title. While the girl started off the game with complete control of the score things slowly fell apart. In the first quarter Wayne started off the game with a quick lead and wouldn’t back down from driving the ball to the board. While Rich fought to gain ground on the Badgers it was clear that the Badgers were a tough opponent to conquer. At the end the first the Badgers lead 14-8. In the second quarter Rich picked up their game and by the end of the second the score was 27-27. After what can only be amused as a rallying war cry from both sides of the court the third quarter was upon underway in a big way. Wayne came out on the fight and pulled ahead. Wayne fans were hopeful that this energy could carry the girls through. They ended the third with 42-39. With only 8 minutes left in the fans hoped that the Badgers could hang on to their fluctuating lead. The Badgers held the lead for most of the quarter until due to foul outs lost 3 key players to the bench. After that their defense slowly went down hill until the end of the game. It was a tough blow for the team as they lead for a majority of the game. Final score 48-56. Leading scorer of the game was again Brynnli Nelson with 18 points and a single 3-pointer. The Badgers face off against Wendover at 10 AM. Let’s go ladies.
