January 24th-30th Girls Basketball

Earlier this week of January 24th-30th Wayne had 2 games. The first game was against Milford and the second game was against Piute. On Tuesday we played Milford at home. This was a high scoring game between both teams.  Both teams worked super hard, but Wayne got ahead and won 72-63. On Wednesday Wayne traveled to Piute to play them on their home gym. This game was very intense, but Piute ended up winning. This had been one of Wayne’s first losses out of the 15 games that they have played. This Friday they play Water Canyon at home!

Wayne Badgers' Pep Band

Here at Wayne High School, we are lucky enough to have a pep band. The pep band consists of all of the students who are in Mrs. Chappell’s band class. These students work very hard to get their pep band music ready. Many hours have been spent practicing these awesome songs to play at the boys and girls basketball games. The pep band adds so much to every game that they attend, and we are grateful for their willingness to share their musical talents. The pep band also loves when the cheerleaders and the student section join in to sing along to the songs they play. So, we encourage all students to come out to the games and cheer on their fellow band members, cheerleaders, and athletes. Thanks again to the pep band, and to Mrs. Chappell, for all the hard work and excellent music they provide for our school.

Christmas Tea

Before leaving for Christmas Break, Wayne High School held their annual Christmas Tea. Each year, FCCLA (advised by Mrs. Taft) puts on this event. Each young man is paired up with a young lady and are responsible for escorting them to Mrs. Taft’s room for some cake and punch. Mrs. Taft and the students involved in FCCLA always put a lot of effort and work into this activity. It is always so much fun and teaches the students how to act when they are out in this type of social setting. A huge thanks to FCCLA and Mrs. Taft for organizing and executing this amazing activity for our Wayne High Students.

Chess Tournament Champions

12 January, 2020

During the Autumn season of 2020, Eric Lafaele hosted a chess tournament. There were participants from all grades, and they all played against each other for the top spot. Included in the participants was Mr. Lafaele himself. Due to the chess games being held during the Study Skills class period, matches took a long time and the tournament moved slowly. However, on January 7th of the new year the final match between Blake Giles and Eric Lafaele was held. Eric Lafaele won the 1st place pedestal; Blake Giles took the 2nd pedestal. The 3rd and 4th places have still not been decided in the loser’s bracket. Congratulations to Mr. Lafaele and Blake!
