FCCLA & HOSA Drug Free Week

26-30 Oct 2020

In the last week of October FCCLA and HOSA held Drug Free Week. The two clubs hosted several fun activities throughout the week. Each day had a certain dress theme to it with each color representing a certain program. The red represents Red Ribbon Week which is the elementary school version of Drug Free Week. The pink represents breast cancer patients. The purple represents domestic violence. Different activities were hosted each day. The picture below showcases the presentation right before the Kahoot. Prizes were given out for participants and special prizes for those who won or achieved certain requirements in these activities.

HOSA WEEK(hand-washing activity)

8 Oct 2020

During the HOSA Week, HOSA standing for Health Occupation Student of America, the President, Idumea Greta Portman, and Vice-President, Kaylee Penrod, of HOSA did a handwashing event. This event showed how much your handwashing actually does to get rid of germs and such. To exemplify this they used gloves and paint(stand-in for germs) and had participants wash their hands normally. They would then examine whether the student’s handwashing technique was enough to get rid of the germs. If not they would be able to improve and hopefully be aware of how much handwashing does to be clean and healthy. Especially during a time like now being cleanly and healthy is a major concern.

Wayne High Volleyball Pink and Gold Games

This week the Volleyball team was able to travel to Valley for their gold game. Velley's team was raising money for a little girl who got into a farming accident. On October 8th, the Wayne Badgers’ had their pink game. The pink game was for people who have had cancer, are fighting cancer, or have passed away from cancer. The team decided to donate all of the money raised that night to Mitchel W. Pace’s family. Each team member also got to pick someone they were playing for that night. We came out with some wins and losses, but it was sure nice helping raise money for the people that needed it!

In school Thursday, October 1st, was the blood drive! People came and donated their blood to help save a life! We would all like to thank the people from the Red Cross for this opportunity. Everyone did an amazing job. And don’t forget to donate next time! But don’t do it just to test for stuff. Do it to save a life, to help someone!  - Juleigh Ogden

Floral Design Creative Projects

The Wayne High School Floral Design class has been hard at work since the beginning of school. With many different fun and exciting projects, the students in this class have really been able to show how creative they are. Some of these creative projects include: planting and learning how to take care of succulent plants, creating a paper flower arrangement, and creating some super creative color wheels. These have been super fun projects and are happy to see students showing their creativity. Thanks to the amazing teacher of this class, Jessica Grundy for the hard work she has put into helping these students learn more about floral design.
